NJ SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps, is New Jersey's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that can help low-income families buy the groceries they need to eat healthy.

Online applications can reduce the amount of time you spend in the office for an interview (of illness or disability If the person is unable to go to the county social services board because of this, send an authorized representative to represent him or her (You can either do this or request a phone interview).


You can also submit your application by fax or mail to your local county welfare office.


After receiving the application, you will be contacted to schedule an interview to confirm the information about the application.


Please also note that households where all members are applicants or recipients of Supplementary Security Income (SSI) may apply to the Social Security District Office at the same time as NJ SNAP.
