Food Assistance Program Temporary food assistance for eligible low-income individuals is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Eligibility is based on the financial status of all members of the family. Anyone who lives together and buys and prepares food together is considered a member of the same household group. In general, we will look at your expenses, assets and income to determine what benefits, if any, you may be entitled to. Application Procedure You must complete and submit an application to determine if you can get help, such as food, health care, child care, temporary cash, emergency care, etc., through MDHHS.

When you apply, you may need to provide information about all members of your household. The best way to determine eligibility and submit an application is to use MI Bridges online. Applications can be delivered in person, sent by post or fax to our local office.
Customers are issued with a Michigan bridge card to purchase certain food products and access cash benefits at a number of retailers and ATMs across the state.
