Food Aid Program Temporary food aid for eligible families and low-income individuals is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.



Eligibility is based on the financial situation of all members in the household.


Anyone who lives together and buys and prepares food together is considered a member of the same household group.


In general, they look at your expenses, assets and income to determine what benefits you may be entitled to. Application procedure you must complete and submit an application to determine if you are eligible to receive assistance in the form of food, Medicaid, childcare, temporary money, emergency money, etc. through MDHHS.


When you apply, you may need to provide information about all members of your household.


The best way to determine eligibility and apply is to apply online using MI Bridges. Applications can be hand-delivered, mailed or faxed to their local office.



Customers are issued a Michigan Bridge Card for the purchase of certain food products and access to cash benefits at numerous retailers and ATMs throughout the state.
