Temporary food assistance for eligible low income families and individuals is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Eligibility is based on the financial situation of all members of a household.

Anyone who lives together and buys and prepares food together is considered a member of the same household group.

In general, they will review your expenses, assets and income to determine which benefits you may be entitled to. Application Procedure you must complete and submit an application to determine whether you are able to receive assistance through the MDHHS in the form of food, Medicaid, childcare, temporary cash, emergency assistance, etc.

When you apply, you may have to provide information about all members of your household.

The best way to determine whether you qualify and sign up is online with MI Bridges. Applications can be delivered, emailed or faxed by hand to their local office.

Customers are issued a Michigan Bridge Card to purchase certain groceries and access cash benefits at multiple stores and ATMs across the state.
