Food Assistance Program Temporary food assistance for eligible low-income individuals is available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.


Eligibility is based on the financial status of all members of the household.


Everyone who lives together and buys and prepares food together is considered a member of the same household group.


In general, we will review your expenses, assets and income to determine which benefits, if any, you might be eligible. Application processYou must complete and submit an application to determine if you are able to receive assistance such as food, Medicaid, child care, temporary money, emergency, etc., via MDHHS.


When submitting a request, you may need to provide information about all members in your home.


The best way to determine whether you qualify and sign up is online with MI Bridges. Applications can be delivered, emailed or faxed by hand to our local office.


Customers get a Michigan Bridge Card to buy certain foods and access cash benefits at a number of retailers and ATMs across the state.
